About Inner Nature Therapy & Amy

I’m Amy Lajiness, LCSW, PMH-C, and I’m an ecotherapist and psychotherapist practicing in San Diego. As a human and a therapist, I highly value authenticity, humor, and compassion for self and others. I affirm and ally myself with all marginalized people, including the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. I am committed to equity and justice for all people, and as part of this commitment, I volunteer my time and expertise to supporting young immigrants as a member of the Mental Health Connection team at Immigrants Rising.

I believe that mental health, spiritual health, ecological health, physical health, and community health intersect, and organize therapy around this belief. I specialize in working with women of all ages, and hold a certification in Perinatal Mental Health to provide specialized support to individuals in the pregnancy and postpartum periods. I have also completed specialized training working with those who are Highly Sensitive Persons (HSPs), and am one myself (if you’re unfamiliar with this trait, click here for more info), and run a resource website and blog for HSP Parents and Caregivers at www.highlysensitiveparenthood.com. I commonly support my clients through anxiety, depression, work/life stress, spiritual and religious challenges, relational difficulties, and life transitions.

With the option of bringing our therapy sessions outdoors, we allow nature to assist in the work of healing and overcoming life’s challenges (see the video below for more info). You may also choose to meet with me via secure video conferencing (available to all California residents). I look forward to working with you, and with nature, to bring you to a place of peace, joy, and connection.

I know it can be difficult to find the time and energy to connect with a therapist, which is why I offer a free 15-minute phone/video consultation.  Click the button below to get started.

My Professional Background

I woke up one morning wondering if there was a way to combine my two biggest passions - psychotherapy and nature - in a way that would bring healing to both the earth and its inhabitants. After a quick internet search, I discovered the field of Ecotherapy, and realized I had found my true calling. Several years, dozens of books, and a Professional Ecotherapy Certification later, Inner Nature Therapy was born. To read more in-depth about me and Inner Nature Therapy, check out my interview with SD Voyager!

I am passionate about working with teenagers, young adults, and women of all ages. My clinical expertise includes treating anxiety, depression, emotional and relational challenges, and substance use. I am experienced in a variety of evidence-based practice models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Restorative Practices, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Ecotherapeutic Approaches. I have experience working in outpatient, inpatient, and school-based settings with teens, adults, and families.
